I agree that John Cusack makes the best rom-coms. I mean when he's standing outside Ione Skye's house and he's carrying that boom box playing "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel over his head . . . *sniff*
However, as bad as "Serendipity" was, it was not as bad as "American Sweethearts". Although, it may qualify as a screwball comedy as well. But still, why John why was this film unleashed on us?
sweethearts was okay, in spite of billy crystal and julia roberts... but I'm of the belief that julia roberts has only been good in one rom-com: notting hill. it was the least stretch (and highly prephetic), playing the bad 'merkin actress who manages to win an oscar...
there were moments of sweethearts I enjoyed. serendipity just sucked the donkey balls.

how about "all of the above"?
what were the three flicks you chose? I happen to like the genre when done well, but do acknowledge your 1:25 ratio seems to be pretty accurate.
generally, cusack makes the best rom-com's. the unfathomable badness of kate beckinsale sunk serendipity tho...
